A five-year-old girl from Presevo in southern Serbian has suffered ijuries when a firecracker exploded in her hand. The child sustained serious injuries to her left hand and was transferred to Nis where she is receiving medical treatment. Firecracker seriously injures child "The girl lost a finger and two thirds of another, and suffered third-degree burns to the entire left hand, but doctors managed to save it," said Children’s Surgery and Orthopedic Clinic Assistant Director Dragoljub Zivanovic. The surgeons performed three operations on her hand since she was admitted on January 1. The girl also sustained minor burns to her chest and face. Two more patients received outpatient treatment for minor injuries caused by firecrackers during the holidays. “Firecrackers and other pyrotechnics are serious and dangerous and can leave grave consequences that affect a person's entire future life,” Zivanovic warned. He advised parents not to buy such products for their children, and not to use them in the children's presence.
