Montenegro: No clear winner in capital DPS has announced that it is “still the strongest” party in Podgorica but that it did not say how many councilors it will have in the local assembly which has 57 seats. According to the Social-Democratic Party of Montenegro (SDP) and the United Opposition, forming of the city administration in the Montenegrin capital will depend on SDP. Based on results from 70 percent of polling stations in Podgorica, DPS won 28, United Opposition 24 and SDP won five seats, said SDP. They did not announce with whom they would form a majority in the capital, but as said their prerequisite for negotiations and coalitions was “respect of the state of Montenegro”. The United Opposition has invited SDP to negotiations about the forming of city authorities, and one of the opposition leaders, Nebojsa Medojevic, expressed hope that the Social-Democrats will resist pressures and opt for the alliance with the opposition.
