Ljubljana Mayor Zoran Jankovic is expected to announce today whether Serbian Delta is still an investor in the Stozice project. It will also become clear whether Delta paid in the installment of EUR 19mn, which was a condition for building the sports-shopping center in the Slovenian capital. Ljubljana: Delta to learn fate on Tuesday Speaking to B92, the mayor’s spokeswoman Tjasa Ficko denied the reports of certain Serbian media that Jankovic was due to name the new investor in the project today. The spokeswoman explained that Jankovic had given his last statement regarding a potential new investor last week, that he had said nothing new since, and that the Slovenian media too had remained quiet on the issue in the meantime. She told B92 that the mayor would be holding a press conference in Stozice today, where he would be speaking about “everything that’s going on in that project.” Meanwhile, Miha Jazbinsek, a Slovenian local level politician, sent an open letter yesterday to the government, warning the prime minister and ministers about the project, which, he said, had brought the mayor’s position into jeopardy because of the construction deadlines that had been set. Jazbinsek said that some of the land parcels necessary for the project were still owned privately and by the SCT construction company, and that not all had received planning permission. He added that the sports part of the Stozice center was of national importance, warning the Slovenian prime minister that the other parts of the project were not sufficiently vital for the state to finance them via the Law on the Capital City. In his letter, Jazbinsek demanded that all civil servants that had been guilty of abuse of office and had exerted pressure on other officials should be criminally prosecuted--the mayor included.
