Kosovo police Deputy Regional Director Ergin Medic says the Kosovo police will provide escort for people who want to visit Gracanica and Gazimestan Thursday. Serbs celebrate St. Vitus Day on Thursday and the Kosovo police say they will escort the citizens from Kosovska Mitrovica to a celebration in Gracanica and Gazimestan. Kosovo police to increase presence for St. Vitus Day Gazimestan near Pristina is the location where the Battle of Kosovo took place on St. Vitus Day, 1389 and a monastery of the Serbian Orthodox Church built in 1321 is located in Gracanica. Medic told Tanjug that the police escort would be provided for busses and cars and pointed out that the Kosovo police would be fully engaged in the regions of Kosovska Mitrovica and Pristina during the St. Vitus Day celebration. “The Kosovo police's operation plan for the region of Kosovska Mitrovica is directed at two groups of activities - one is to provide escort and the other to preserve public order, especially in the zones with mixed population,” he concluded.
