The Democrats and Socialists, despite earlier announcements, did not continue the talks on the forming of the government on Saturday. “We had talks with the Democratic Party (DS) about the forming of the government a few days ago. Those talks are not finished and they will be continued,” Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS) deputy leader Zarko Obradovic said. Talks on government at standstill According to some announcements, the DS has managed to secure the parliamentary majority thanks to the support of the Serbian Renewal Movement (SPO). SPO deputy leader Aleksandar Jugovic said on Saturday that the party would support the DS even if the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) did not. The SPO is a part of the LDP-led U-Turn coalition. The Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) would also like the government to be formed as soon as possible and it stressed it would soon inform the public about the results of their talks. “If the Democrats are not capable of forming their majority of at least 126 MPs, then they have to let others do it,” SNS official Zorana Mihajlovic stressed. In the meantime, the Alliance of Vojvodina Hungarians (SVM) has confirmed it will be a part of the parliamentary majority. SVM leader Istvan Pastor said members of his party did not want to have a role in the future government but that they wanted to keep the positions in parliamentary committees.
