SNS marks party's 2nd anniversary

Opposition Serb Progressive Party (SNS) in Sunday in Belgrade marked two years since the split from the Serb Radicals (SRS). Leader Tomislav Nikolic stated on Sunday that before obtaining EU membership, Serbia needs to tackle one more important task and create an economic system which the citizens would benefit from. SNS marks party's 2nd anniversary At the ceremony to mark the second anniversary of the party founding, Nikolic said that the cumbersome government needs to be downsized, and added that a new, more efficient government should be constituted. He pointed out that investments also need to be evenly distributed among all regions in Serbia, and noted that the SNS is committed to fight against crime and corruption. According to Nikolic, the SNS supports investments into agriculture, inspection into all suspicious cases of privatization and invalidation of all detrimental privatization deals. The SNS leader underscored that Serbia cannot have a better future unless it cooperates with the EU and countries such as Russia, the U.S. and China on the basis of egalitarian principles. “There is no future for Serbia if the country does not cooperate with the EU, Russia, the U.S., Brazil, South America, India, China, Arab and African World,” Nikolic underscored and noted that Serbia cannot survive unless it cooperates with the whole world as an equal partner. According to the SNS leader, Serbia needs such cooperation in all aspects of life. Some 30,000 people, many bused in from other cities, attended the gathering, among them representatives of other parties and diplomatic envoys in Serbia. Opposition New Serbia leader Velimir Ilic addressed them to say that "Serbia has chosen its new leader". "Serbia wants this leader to lead, and we must help, we must push and have a day dawn after the next elections when we'll all rejoice," said he. "I am extending the greetings of our leader, my Bogoljub, and all the members of our movement," the gathering heard from Milanka Karic, the wife of fugitive tycoon Bogoljub Karic, who also heads his party, PSS.
