Vatican names new envoy to Serbia

Pope Benedict XVI has named Monsignor Orlando Antonini as the apostolic nuncio in Serbia, according to the Vatican’s press service.

Pope Benedict XVI has named Monsignor Orlando Antonini as the apostolic nuncio in Serbia, according to the Vatican’s press service. Antonini will be replacing Eugenio Sbarbaro, who is leaving Belgrade after two mandates. Vatican names new envoy to Serbia The new diplomatic representative of the Vatican is expected to arrive in September. Antonini, born in 1944, after finish theology studies, received a doctorate in Canon Laws. He began working as a diplomat of the Vatican in March 1980, and has worked in Bangladesh, Madagascar, Syria, Chile, Holland and France. In July 1999, he was named the apostolic nuncio in Zambia and Malavi. He speaks Italian, French, English and Spanish.
