Kosovo is an example of how OSCE's founding principles are not being implemented today, FM Vuk Jeremic says. Addressing an informal meeting of foreign ministers of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) held on the Greek island of Corfu and dedicated to security issues, Jeremic said that this trans-Atlantic and trans-European organization has lately found itself "at the center of a crisis of trust". Kosovo, and violation of OSCE principles "Kosovo is a flagrant example of that. The unilateral declaration of independence on the part of the ethnic Albanian authorities in our southern province is equal to an attempt to force a partition Serbia." This, the minister stressed, represents a direct violation of Serbia's sovereignty and territorial integrity, and a violation of the country's Constitution, UN Charter, goes against the will of the UN Security Council and is also in breach of OSCE's Final Helsinki Act. "We are disappointed that there has not been a joint stance taken against these violations of basic international principles. It opens the doors to having territorial integrity of other country's brought into question," said Jeremic. He pointed out that such approach on the part of the OSCE, which gathers 56 countries and functions on the principle of consensus, could prompt its critics to say that the organization is applying double standards: one for Kosovo, and another for other situations. Jeremic further told the gathering that Serbia will not allow the issue of Kosovo to be swept under the carpet, and reminded that Belgrade met the challenges related to the problem in line with the Helsinki principles, without choosing confrontation or unilateral moves, and that the use of force and economic sanctions has also been ruled out. On Saturday, the minister met with his German counterpart Frank-Walter. Jeremic was also scheduled to have a bilateral meeting with Finland's Foreign Minister Alexander Stubb. Later on Sunday, Jeremic will meet the chief of Russia's foreign policy, Sergei Lavrov.
