Kosovo, and violation of OSCE principles

Kosovo is an example of how OSCE's founding principles are not being implemented today, FM Vuk Jeremić says.

“This, the minister stressed, represents a direct violation of Serbia's sovereignty and territorial integrity, and a violation of the country's Constitution, UN Charter, goes against the will of the UN Security Council and is also in breach of OSCE's Final Helsinki Act.

"We are disappointed that there has not been a joint stance taken against these violations of basic international principles. It opens the doors to having territorial integrity of other country's brought into question," said Jeremić.”
Few simple facts are very clear to show that many of the issues referred to as ‘legal issues’ by Belgrade are nothing more but pure politics. Belgrade continually declares that Res. 1244 should be respected, while it breaches it itself: CEFTA, UNMIK IDs and travel documents, calling on K. Serbs not to participate in elections organized by UNMIK, etc.
So, dear Jeremic, Serbia is not ‘the World’ and therefore not everything that is not in line with Belgrade (Jeremic’s) policies is a violation of Int. principles.

I would just ask "free-willing" Kosovo Albanians...do they really think that they are building civilized society: for example how do they explain that from more then 40 000 Serbs living in province capitol Pristina back in 80-s, today there is NONE left? Do they think that their "independence free-willing lie" which hides decades of brutal atrocities against the Serbs and non Albanians can be sold to the World forever under the umbrella of American political bully?
Society built on blood, lie and crime will soon or later fail.

First lets talk about economic santions. What economic santions can Serbia impose?

Where do you think Kosovo gets food & electricity from?

Zoran,
I ask this again can anyone tell me what "More than autonomy less than Independence" is suppose to mean. It is a very popular phrase with Serbs but no one has ever defined it.
I believe that is what UNSC 1244 gave to Kosovo, so is the Serb solution that Kosovo forever be a UN protectorate??
I am sure no one in Serbia is proposing any type of equality status with the Serbian population.
What could returning to the negotiating table ever give the Kosovo people more than they have now. Even without further recognitions they have achieved more than they would ever have under Serbian rule.

OSCE is a bad organization with formally good aims. In practice we all know it as a tool to move forward the policy of Department of State and it's щерук European division as EU.

Of course for Serbia it is different but I can see no reasons why Russia still remains in this totally hostile organization. We pay annual Euro 20 mln to hear what we already know. We already know that we are fatally bad and nothing but capitulation will change us for better.

So I believe it's high time for us to say good bye to OSCE the way we did it concerning WTO talks. I do believe some of our neighbors also attacked from this tribune will follow us to devaluate this barking place. I am not sure if for Serbia is better to do the same but you don't have to be surprised when they demonstrate their Serbophobia. Just be ready for this.

Serbia was offering a half-full glass as its proposal, which was rejected but the US decided to offer a half-empty glass, which was accepted. The difference between a top-down and bottom-up approach.

You see, Serbia rejected independence and wanted to work towards autonomy whereas the US rejected autonomy and wanted to work towards independence. Given the hardcore position of world powers, we will meet somewhere in the middle regardless - so the sooner we negotiate peace the faster we will prosper.

When I see any of your ethnic-Albanian "politicians" enter the North or enclaves then I make take note of your comment but our President recently entered Kosovo to proclaim Kosovo is Serbia.

(Rebel, 28 June 2009 15:39)

When you said “strength and resolve of American” and Albanian desire to be free. You nail it right on the money. Do you honestly think America is going to be there for you for ever. It’s a proven fact that Yankees resolve and desire for anyone does not last very long. It’s just mater of time before they do to you what they did to countless so called friends of theirs.

Sadly through a temporary loss, we become stronger. Sadly through a temporary gain, others rejoice, though only for a short time. For it is pain of temporary loss, that will embolden our hearts, minds and souls until we finally liberate every inch of our sacred land...and rest we will not, until we do.

Mr. Jeremic is firmly aware of the Mission’s (OSCE) mandate, that have been running 10 years now; monitoring, protection and promotion of the Human Rights, and it does precisely and constantly that in fully accordance with any of affirmative acts not only the Helsinki’s one. However, Mr. Jeremic is also conscious and so clever to stop doing what he repetitively does. How else he could benefit all privileges he’s been enjoining such a long time? Of course, the answer is: never! Imagine, Jeremic to be addressing the OSCE or any other organization, referring on topics as economy, health, social, industry and so on!
Imagine, Jeremic to be talking of friendship, cooperation and prosperity for all! Hard to imagine, isn’t it. Let’s hope, Serbian people to get rid of this kind in the near future.

As far as eventual sanctions are concerned; Serbia is not in any position to put sanctions. towards anyone, it would be only of advantage to Albin Kurti for instance. Remember he has been for a long time promoting the idea to boycotting of goods from Serbia. In other side, we were witnesses of a false attempt not long ago with such a substance; but it gave no effects, due to a huge discontent of the Serbian producers, whose estimation of loses was around 500 million Euros to the Serbian side. The same time it would have prompted Kosova enhancing its capacities respectively, in order to fulfill its needs.

Hereupon, I would be repeating once more few qualities of the appropriate politician such as ethics, principles, to speak nothing but the truth in any circumstances, good manners etc. unfortunately, we could hardly find them among the Balkans politicians.

"Jeremić further told the gathering that Serbia will not allow the issue of Kosovo to be swept under the carpet, and reminded that Belgrade met the challenges related to the problem in line with the Helsinki principles, without choosing confrontation or unilateral moves, and that the use of force and economic sanctions has also been ruled out."

Jeremic is doing things almost exactly right- especially when he continually meets with foreign ministers, various governments and UN and EU officials. His actions nor his words have not wavered since the UDI was declared....and by doing so, he has not let the world forget about how wrong Kosovo's UDI is, and the worldwide disruptive effects it's having on many nations and peoples.
The one point that I do disagree with Vuk is when he says that Serbia will never use any actions besides "diplomatic actions". Here, I believe he is limiting Serbia's course of action. He is also playing into the hands of the corrupt EU and Western politicians in passively ignoring the Kumanovo Agreement which gives Serbia the RIGHT to bring it's citizens and army back into our southern province- as per UN resolution 1244. Happy Vidovdan, Serbia!!!

Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, we say here in America. As an Albanian-American, my views are radically different from yours. While you say that "it should be clear blah blah blah" I say "it should be clear that thanks to the strength and resolve of American will, and Albanian desire to be free, Serb president has to ask permission before entering Kosova"

It should be clear now that Kosovo can never become independent and the US can only deliver something in line with Serbia's more than autonomy, less than independence proposal. Sure, this was rejected from Serbia but effectively accepted from the US. It is just being presented differently but we'll still get the same result.

This may come as a disappointment to some but Serbia really has no interest in ruling over our ethnic Albanians so the offer of self-rule is being fulfilled.

Independence is irreversibly blocked, ethnic Albanians get self-rule, they can join the World Bank and IMF, all in line with our proposal. Time to acknowledge reality and negotiate peace and prosperity.

A lot of things violates the OSCE principles, but Kosova was lost in 1913, the right moment had to come to make it official!

Anyway, this is only frustration because Serbia can't use force anymore. How many believe that Serbia wouldn't if it could?
