Prime Minister Mirko Cvetkovic says that an increase in Value Added Tax (VAT) is theoretically possible, but is not currently under discussion. Cvetkovic told journalists that there was no longer any way to solve economic problems with fiscal policies, but added that he was hopeful that there would be no further problems. Cvetkovic: No VAT increase The prime minister said that the stimulus package for Serbian industry adopted by the government yesterday was an accompaniment to the credit measures for boosting domestic consumption adopted in February. “Essentially, the previous package has proven its worth and we should be continuing in that vein,” Cvetkovic said. The prime minister stressed that the new program would increase the amount of funds available for stimulating industry. Cvetkovic added that talks on resolving problems related to taxing copyrighted material would begin next week, when Finance Minister Diana Dragutinovic returns from abroad.
