Spain should have consulted with NATO allies before deciding to withdraw its troops from Kosovo, says Italian FM Franco Frattini. "Unfortunately, they already made their decision and we regret that," he told Madrid's ABC daily, adding that "the moment is not right yet to pull out of Kosovo". Italian FM: Moment not right for withdrawal "I believe it was important to discuss such a decision first. When you are part of an alliance such as NATO, which requires sacrifices, obligations must be respected, and there must above all be dialogue," said Frattini. He also stated that NATO-led KFOR would stay in Kosovo "for as long as necessary, in order to overcome tensions that still exist". Frattini reminded that Italian troops "were first in Kosovo". "It is our responsibility to help bridge ethnic and religious tensions and other problems, in order to have a peaceful transition. The moment is still not right to withdraw," he concluded.
