Security is good in Kosovo at this point, KFOR commander, French General Xavier de Marnhac told Radio Gracanica Saturday. De Marnhac underlined that he did not have information indicating that the situation in the province would deteriorate in December. KFOR chief: Situation in Kosovo stable The Contact Group Troika is expected to submit a report to UN secretary-general on December 10 concerning the results of negotiations on the future status of the southern Serbian province. However, the general said that KFOR troops were "at all times ready to react" to any challenge so as to ensure the safety of all inhabitants, he told the radio broadcasting from the Serb enclave. De Marnhac also added that the NATO peacekeepers would be on higher alert for the period before and after the upcoming elections in Kosovo, and announced he will meet with Serbian Army (VS) Chief of General Staff Lt. Gen. Zdravko Ponos next week. Parliamentary and local elections in the province are scheduled for November 17.
