Užice-Nova Varoš highway opened

Prime Minister Vojislav Koštunica opened an 18 kilometer reconstructed stretch of the Užica-Nova Varoš highway Friday.

Užice-Nova Varoš highway opened

“At this time, when we are fighting a big battle for Kosovo-Metohija to remain a part of Serbia, we cannot stop fighting the other battle, and that is to make Serbia more stable, to improve the standard of living, increase employment, and strengthen the economy,” government’s web site reported Koštunica as saying.

Infrastructure Minister Velimir Ilić said that the new section would bring Serbia closer to Montenegro and the Adriatic coast.

He also commended Užice-based branch of the Public Enterprise Roads of Serbia for managing to complete works ahead of the schedule.

The EUR 15.4mn construction works took two years to complete.
