Ambassador Nagai said on the occasion that 69,728 euros were intended for the Zemun center, while 58,272 euros were slated for the Novi Pazar elementary.

Knežević said the donated funds would be used to purchase special vehicles for the disabled, adding that they had “greater significance than purely their monetary value”, since they contributed to upholding the dignity of persons with disabilities, giving them a sense of security.

Haligić said the Japanese donation would be used to reconstruct the Novi Pazar school premises.

Serbian assistant labor, employment and social policy minister Slađana Marković expressed gratitude on behalf of the ministry, adding that Serbia, having harmonized its social and healthcare laws, was set to sign the United Nation’s International Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities in March.
