Former member of the fascist Hungarian police Sandor Kepiro died in Budapest on Saturday at the age of 98. Kepiro died only a month after being acquitted by a Hungarian court for involvement in the killings of Serbs, Jews and Roma during the infamous Novi Sad raid in 1942. Suspected WW2 war criminal Kepiro dies Serbian War Crimes Prosecutor Vladimir Vukcevic stated he was embittered by the fact there had been no guilty verdict against Kepiro that would confirm his responsibility for the crime. "We are sorry we did not get a legally valid truth about the crime and that there was no justice for the victims," he told Tanjug. The request for an investigation against Kepiro was filed by Vukcevic's office in 2008. The trial was continued in May this year after medical experts had determined Kepiro was physically and mentally capable of understanding what was going on in the courtroom. Serbian War Crimes Prosecutor Vladimir Vukčević stated he was embittered by the fact there had been no guilty verdict against Kepiro that would confirm his responsibility for the crime.

"We are sorry we did not get a legally valid truth about the crime and that there was no justice for the victims," he told Tanjug.

The request for an investigation against Kepiro was filed by Vukčević's office in 2008.
