Hague Tribunal war crimes indictee Goran Hadzic's initial appearance before the court has been scheduled for 04:00 CET on Monday, July 25. Most of the Hague employees have already gone on holiday, including President Patrick Robinson, but his deputy, O-Gon Kwon, has appointed himself as the pre-trial judge. Hadzic's initial appearance before Hague on Monday This South Korean judge will ask Hadzic about the accommodation at the detention unit and his health, Hague spokesperson Nerma Jelacic told Tanjug Saturday. He will then ask Hadzic to enter his plea. The indictment accuses him of crimes against humanity and violations of the laws and customs of war. If the former political leader of Serbs in Croatia refuses to state his plea, the judge will enter a not guilty plea in his name, according to Hague regulations. Hadzic will be informed about the indictment from July 13, 2004, since the Prosecutor's Office filed the request to confirm the new indictment last Friday. According to Hague Chief Prosecutor, the meaning of the indictment is the same, and the changes refer to technicalities and precise definitions of Hadzic's involvement in certain crimes. The new indictment will become valid once the court confirms it. In the current indictment, Hadzic is accused of participation in a joint criminal enterprise with Slobodan Milossevic, Milan Babic, Ratko Mladic, Radovan Karadzic, Jovica Stanisic and others. He is charged with crimes in Eastern Slavonia, including plunder, murder, deportation and other violations of the international humanitarian law against the non-Serb population of that area.
