Man steals taxi, activates hand grenade

Jovan Kostic (25) died after suffering injuries from a hand grenade he activated while he was driving in a hijacked taxi in Belgrade. Police chased him around the city and exchanged gunfire with Kostic, who ended up killing himself. The incident began on Friday night when Kostic tried to hail a taxi, but the driver noticed a gun in his hands and did not stop. He then found another taxi and threatened the driver with a gun, forcing him to drive him around the city. The driver, Simo Perencevic, drove around for 45 minutes. He said that he talked to the man while driving and was even forced to hold the grenade at moments. Perencevic said that he has a tracking device in his taxi and an emergency button that tells his station that he is endanger, who then call the police and tell them where the taxi is located. After the explosion, medical workers noticed that Kostic had more explosives on him, strapped around his waste. He was still alive after the blast, but died in the emergency room. There is no information on why he was carrying the the explosives and grenades with him.
