The government announced on Wednesday that the New York District Attorney has decided to hand over the Miladin Kovacevic case to the Serbian judiciary. This "successfully resolves the problem that has seriously impaired relations between Serbia and the United States", the news agencies reported. The statement said that the resolution of the Kovacevic case "will contribute to boosting Serbia's reputation worldwide". The government said that a successful resolution has been found to a problem that has seriously impaired relations between Serbia and the United States, since Serbia's laws do not allow the extradition of Serbian nationals. Kovacevic is accused stateside of seriously injuring fellow student in a barroom brawl. He last year jumped bail and used temporary travel documents to return to Serbia.
