"Faster economic recovery in 2011"

Prime Minister Mirko Cvetkovic said on Friday that the country would enter a state of faster economic recovery in 2011. Presenting the government's economic plan for 2010, Cvetkovic said that a 1.5 percent gross domestic product growth is planned for next year, which would be less than in 2008. "Faster economic recovery in 2011" Cvetkovic stated that no new tax increases are planned for next year, adding that salaries and pensions in the public sector would remain on their current level. According to the Prime Minister, the government will continue stimulating the economy through subsidies and credits for liquidity, investments and spending, but the level of subsidies will be lower than in 2009. The budget deficit will be four percent in 2010, and the aim of the government is to completely get rid of it in the next four to five years, Cvetkovic said. He announced a stable exchange rate for the domestic currency in 2010, further reduction of the central bank’s referential interest rate, lower inflation, and stable prices.
