Swedish IKEA has invested EUR 500,000 towards developing the production capacities of Vranje's Simpo, the company stated. Thanks to the investment, a modern assembly line for automatic fabric sowing has been installed with a capacity that is 12 times the current amount, Simpo General Director Sladjan Disic said. IKEA invests in Serbian plant In the first half of 2009, Ikea and the southern-Serbia based domestic furniture maker agreed on the export of sofas made by Simpo to IKEA stores in Russia, worth EUR 5.5mn, and another shipment to the Italian, Spanish and Portuguese markets.
