Chebchoub said that Nikolic's visit will be "an exceptional honor for Algeria as it will be the first ever by a Serbian president."

Nikolic said that the April 24 elections in Serbia "will bring no change in the country's policy towards Algeria or its resolve to constantly enhance its relations with the friendly country," the presidential press office said in a statement.

He expressed gratitude for Algeria's principled position on non-recognition of the so-called "Republic of Kosovo", expressing hope that, in case the issue of "the admission of "Kosovo" to UNESCO re-emerges in two years, many of Serbia's friends, including Algeria, will not abstain, but back the principle that a non-existent state cannot become a member of such an organization, the statement added.

The Algerian ambassador said that Nikolic's visit will be "an impetus to enhanced cooperation in several fields."
