Kiev sees Russian invasion - "won't use force to stop it"

"They entered Ukraine without permission and without the participation of the International Committee of the Red Cross or the Ukrainian border guards," said spokesman for the Ukrainian army Andrei Lysenko, according to Reuters.

Lysenko added that the safety of the convoy that crossed into the territory under the control of pro-Russian forces was "the sole responsibility of Moscow," AFP reported.

"The Ukrainian side has proposed talks with Russia, but Russia did not accept," said Lysenko, adding that the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs will soon publish a statement on the Russian convoy, according to Itar-Tass.

"We believe that it is a direct Russian invasion of Ukraine," said head of the Ukrainian Security Service Valentin Nalyvaychenko in a separate press release.

He added that Ukraine will not use force against the Russian convoy and wanted to avoid "provocations," according to Reuters.

Previously, the Russian MFA announced that Russia was no longer willing to tolerate delays to the entry of the convoy carrying aid for Ukraine, and that all the trucks it sent last week were now moving, and headed toward Lugansk.

"All excuses to delay the sending of aid... have been exhausted. The Russian side has decided to act," Reuters quoted the statement.

Russia at the same time warned that no action be taken that would hinder the movement of the convoy.
