"I am not afraid," one of the leaders of Turkmen fighters in Syria said, according to Turkey's DHA agency.

He added: "We are fighting for our faith... we will continue until the last drop of blood."

Russian intelligence services have marked Celik as the person who killed the pilot, after he ejected from the Su-24 and was parachuting into the territory in northern Syria held by the Turkmen.

Celik also announced he would soon return to Syria, saying he was "not afraid" of possible retribution from Russia's intelligence services.
