Greece won't close airspace for Russia's Syria-bound planes

The use of Greece's airspace for Russian planes transporting aid to Syria "is no longer a problem," a Greek government spokesman said on Tuesday.

Previously, the United States asked Greece to deny Russian planes the right to use the country's airspace for such flights.

This was announced on Monday by a Greek Foreign Ministry spokesman.

Russia's RIA Novosti news agency said earlier, quoting unnamed diplomatic sources, that Greece had rejected the request of the U.S.
