Montenegrin police have contacted Ratko Knezevic, who recently accused the country's PM Milo Djukanovic of committing criminal acts. In a series of interviews, the former envoy to Washington and Djukanovic's close associate also pointed the finger at Stanko Subotic, aka Cane, indicted in Serbia for organizing cigarette smuggling operations. Police "contact" ex-Djukanovic ally According to reports today, Knezevic was contacted "via his wife's brother", who was brought in by police when officers wanted to get hold of Knezevic's telephone number. After this, he said, he contacted Rajko Malovic – Montenegro's police chief of organized crime department – who told him the procedure was a mistake, and that "this was not the way to talk to him". "I know that all the services have my contacts and that they are wiretapping my conversations with my family in Montenegro," said he. Knezevic claims he has evidence that EUR 1.2bn was laundered in Montenegro, and accuses Djukanovic and Subotic of being the kingpins of what he refers to as the Tobacco Cartel, "also responsible for a series of murders in the Balkans", Beta news agency reports.
