Immediately in the wake of this decision, the former DS president, Bojan Pajtic, also resigned as the head of the party's parliamentary group, saying that he "does not share completely the new leadership's values and its political rationale."

Sutanovac said he learned about this decision from the social media and that it surprised him. He also revealed he did not know for the moment who would replace Pajtic.

Sutanovac added that in his speech given after he was elected to lead the DS, he announced the party would now have "a more agile" presence in the National Assembly - "given it is the only lit stage that it has."

But, he told the daily Danas, "there was no talk about any kind of resignations, including in the parliamentary group, and I did not ask for it."
