France extradites Albanian murder suspect

France has extradited an Albanian suspected of being behind the murder of a Serb and the disappearance of his son.

Momčilo Milenković was strangled with a table cloth on August 2, 1999 in his house in Priština.

Svetomir Milenković, his son is still listed as missing. Besim Berisha was arrested in Dečani on August 3, 1999 and charged with the murder of the former and the disappearance of the latter. Due to a lack of evidence he was released on March 20, 2000.

The District Prosecutor’s office appealed against the verdict, whereupon the Supreme Court ordered a retrial. Berisha left Kosovo in the meantime.

He was arrested in France on August 7, 2007, on suspicion of armed robbery and after identification on August 27, 2008, he was extradited to the Kosovo judicial authorities on the basis of an UNMIK international warrant.

Other warrants were issued against Berisha in the Czech Republic, Switzerland, Belgium and Germany for illegal residence, drug dealing, and other criminal offenses.


Cop arrested on heroin charges

A Kuršumlija policeman has been detained for possession of heroin, FoNet reports.
