Astrit Haraqija and Bajrush Morina have pleaded not guilty before the Hague Tribunal to charges of witness intimidation. Former Kosovo Culture Minister Haracija (36) and his assistant Morina (46) are accused of trying to convince an important prosecution witness not to testify at the trial of former KLA leader Ramush Haradinaj. Former Kosovo officials plead not guilty The protected witness, PW, had been under the protection of the Tribunal since 2005. His statements were released by Haradinaj’s defense under his real name in January and February 2007. Haraqija, who was one of the founders of a committee to defend Haradinaj, is accused of using Kosovo Ministry of Culture funds for this purpose, adding that he also told Morina, who was his deputy’s assistant, to travel to the country where PW was residing and persuade him not to testify. The two men are also charged with contempt of court.

His statements were released by Haradinaj’s defense under his real name in January and February 2007.Haraqija, who was one of the founders of a committee to defend Haradinaj, is accused of using Kosovo Ministry of Culture funds for this purpose, adding that he also told Morina, who was his deputy’s assistant, to travel to the country where PW was residing and persuade him not to testify.
The two men are also charged with contempt of court.
