BELGRADE Milutin Mrkonjic has said the government should make an effort to bring home all Serbs from the Hague Tribunal. Mrkonjic is a cabinet minister and one of the deputy leaders of the ruling Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS). "Govt. should get all Serbs out of Hague" "All Serbs who remain at the Hague casemate must be released immediately. I was the first to say it way back when Slobodan Milosevic was taken to the Hague, and now everyone finally sees the truth. The fortress of injustice should be closed down," Mrkonjicold the daily Vecernje Novosti. Mrkonjic said he was not surprised by the latest verdicts of the Hague, which acquitted former Croatian generals Ante Gotovina and Mladen Markac, and former KLA leader Ramush Haradinaj. "It is a disgrace that our people are rotting in the Hague, while Albanian and Croatian criminals walk free. The government must make an effort to bring our people home to Serbia. The world has heard from First Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandar Bucic, who said everything about the Tribunal in New York," said Mrkonjic. Asked how Serbia would continue on its "path toward the EU" without losing Kosovo and Metohija in the process, the minister said that the state policy conducted by Tomislav Nikolic, Ivica Dacic and Aleksandar Vucic would "protect Serb national interests": "These are hard times when statesmen's wisdom is needed, but also the strength of conviction. Serbia now has both. We will make our moves both in the interest of our compatriots in Kosovo, but also all the citizens of our country." Mrkonjic also sent a message to "Europe", saying that it should "stop with the blackmail". He described the current government as "a strong team", and said there would be no early elections in the country next year. The minister for transport also noted that a new law on public enterprises would be implemented in his sector, and announced sackings in public enterprises. According to Mrkonjic, the northern part of Corridor 10 was "completely finished", while the trip from Belgrade to Vienna by road now takes about four hours. The minister also stated that of the 333 kilometers of the highway, some 200 have been built already. (file) Beta Tanjug Vecernje novosti
