Macedonia's authorities have filed terrorism charges against five suspects in the quintuple murder case that shook the country in mid-April. Of the five suspects, two remain at large, one of which is believed to be one of the shooters. 5 charged in connection with Macedonia murders This was heard on Wednesday in Skopje during a news conference called by Interior Minister Gordana Jankulovska. She said that three persons, aged 27, 32, and 33 are suspected of using two automatic rifles and a pistol to shoot and kill five Macedonian men on the shores of an artificial lake near Skopje. The remaining two suspects were charged for helping the killers. But Jankulovska refused to reveal the ethnicity of the suspected murderers. At the same time, she declined to offer any comment on the fact that during the arrest operation on Tuesday, Macedonian police confiscated uniforms and propaganda of the Kosovo-based, now disbanded, ethnic Albanian "Kosovo Liberation Army" (KLA). Macedonian media are also quoting the minister as saying that the two helpers assisted the perpetrators "during the illegal crossing of the border and entry into the territory of Kosovo". Earlier in the day, a group of 20 persons arrested on Tuesday on suspicion of involvement in the murders was brought before an investigative judge. Previously, the police said that the motive for the murders was to "intimidate local population". The perpetrators are officially being described as "radical Islamists". The victims were four young men, aged between 18 and 22, and a 45-year-old native of the village where the killings took place. The bodies of the first four victims - who were spending the afternoon fishing at the lake - were found in a position that indicated they were lined up and executed, while the body of the local man was found some 100 meters away. Suspects are brought to court on Wednesday, after they were apprehended on Tuesday in what the Macedonian police dubbed Operation Monster: (Tanjug) B92
