The country, he continued according to a statement from his press service on Monday evening in Belgrade, "merits it completely": "Serbia met EU conditions, awaits Dec. 9" “In the European Commission's report, Serbia has been assessed positively as a country which is implementing major reforms, a key factor of stability and reconciliation in the region, it has completed the cooperation with the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia and is achieving concrete results in the Belgrade- Pristina dialogue while at the same time taking into account legitimate interests of the Serbian people and state in Kosovo-Metohija." “However, despite all this, it remains to be seen whether Serbia will gain the EU candidate status or it will be conditioned for us, for Serbia, in an unacceptable way and for that reason we are awaiting December 9, when the EU Council is to deliver a final decision,” Tadic was quoted in the statement. His comments came in the wake of a meeting of the EU Council of Ministers, which debated Serbia's EU bid on Monday in Brussels. (file)
