Belgrade supports university in K. Mitrovica

Education Minister Žarko Obradović said Wednesday that the government would continue supporting the Serb-run Priština University in Kosovska Mitrovica.

Education Minister Zarko Obradovic said Wednesday that the government would continue supporting the Serb-run Pristina University in Kosovska Mitrovica. Obradovic visited the university for its 40th anniversary and greeted this year's freshmen. He also stressed the significance of that academic institution. Belgrade supports university in K. Mitrovica The university has stayed active despite the situation in Kosovo, and the government will continue supporting it, Obradovic noted. "The Pristina University operates in very difficult conditions, but it was still among the first universities to be accredited and to show that it possesses a quality equal to that of other universities. This university has managed to establish cooperation with other academic institutions in Europe," the minister remarked. Other universities in Serbia also support the Pristina University, and the Education Ministry is trying to provide scholarships for as many of its students as possible, as well as to ensure proper conditions for their studies, Obradovic stated. The heads of all Serbian universities and the head of the Banja Luka University from RS, Bosnia-Herzegovina were present at the ceremony. The Pristina University comprises ten schools, which have enrolled some 1,200 students this year.
