Ethnic Albanians in a Kosovo village have announced a new protest against Serb returnees there for Easter Sunday. They have already staged three days of protests this week in the village of Zac, near Istok. Protest against Serb returnees on Easter KIM Radio reports today that coordinator for returns in the Istok municipality Vesna Malikovic has denied allegations heard during the protests that "war criminals" were among the returnees to the village. She said that three Serbs that local Albanians want arrested were not among those who returned on March 28, and that they were not on any list that she handed over to UNHCR, EULEX police, KFOR, or Kosovo police, KPS. Malinkovic also said that the Serb returnees who came back to their homes were determined to stay. "They are firmly resolved to stay on their property regardless of the fact that a new protest of Albanians has been announced for Easter Sunday," said she. On Thursday, the Albanians marched through the village carrying banners reading, "No returns until the missing are found", "We won't work according to Serb plans", "Criminals don't need houses, but cells". They also shouted, "Go away from here, from our free Kosovo", and, "You were murdering us". Some 30 members of EULEX and KPS secured the protest, KFOR troops. The Serbs who returned to Zac currently live in tents, since their houses have been destroyed.
