Srebrenica Municipal Assembly President Radomir Pavlovic said that Serbs are continuing to leave the municipality. He attributed this trend to the pressure of the local Bosniak (Muslim) government. Departure of Serbs from Srebrenica continues “Because they feel as if they have had their rights taken away since the Bosniaks took over the local government in 2000, 10,000 Serbs left, after previously finding a safe haven in Srebrenica, after running from the Muslim-Croat Bosnia-Herzegovina Federation,” Pavlovic said. He said that even though there are twice as many Serbs in Srebrenica compared to Bosniaks, they are being treated by the Bosniak government as a minority and are being discriminated against in all sectors. “Donations, building materials and humanitarian aid are being given to Bosniaks, which is shown by the data that of the 2,319 restored homes, only 546 are Serb,” he said, adding that Serbs in Srebrenica are being discriminated against in the job market as well. Pavlovic said that about 5,000 Serbs from the municipality live as refugees in Serbia, because they cannot return, adding that their homes are destroyed and that the Bosnian government locally is interfering with the restoration activities. He said that in the villages of Rastovici, Radosevici and Krnisi, of the 500 Serb homes that Muslims destroyed in 1992, only ten have been restored. Pavlovic also warned that Bosniaks are once against trying to push the proposal of getting Srebrenica territorially and administratively out of the constitutional-legal system of the Republic of Srpska, RS.
