India opposes Kosovo's membership in intl. organizations

During the meeting, Brnabic "stressed the importance of the traditional and friendly relations between the two countries in the year when Serbia and India celebrate 70 years of diplomatic relations," and "especially thanked India for supporting Serbia' territorial integrity and sovereignty."

Chauhan "emphasized in that India opposes membership of so-called 'Kosovo' in international organizations," the Serbian government said on its website.

Brnabic and Chauhan also discussed economic cooperation and opportunities for new investments and projects. The ambassador presented the project Digital India and "offered assistance and cooperation between Indian and Serbian companies in the field of digitalization and IT sector, since these are the priorities in the work of the government of Serbia."

Chauhan singled out the technology park in the Serbian town of Indjija as one of the most important Indian investments in this country.

The Serbian prime minister and India's top representative here also emphasized the importance of developing cooperation in the field of tourism, as well as in the field of creative and film industry.

An Indian delegation is expected to visit Serbia in the coming period "to discuss concrete projects in the field of film production," the statement said, and added that other topics of discussion included "potentials for cooperation in the field of tractor production, infrastructure projects, as well as cooperation of the two countries' defense industries."

A statement published on the Indian embassy's website said that India and Serbia have traditionally enjoyed deep friendship as co-founders of the Non-Aligned Movement, with their relations "marked by mutual trust and understanding."

"The bilateral cooperation received a significant boost at the beginning of 2017 when leksandar Vucic visited India for Vibrant Gujarat Summit and held discussions with Indian prime minister and business community. The visit has opened new doors of cooperation to mutual benefit," the statement said.
