BELGRADE Aleksandar Vulin has said that "only the leading figures of four municipalities in northern Kosovo had been replaced." The municipalities themselves had not been dissolved, said the minister without portfolio in charge of Kosovo, adding that the government "would do everything to prevent a destabilization in northern Kosovo." Change in leadership "will not destabilize northern Kosovo" "Members of different political parties are among those removed from office, which shows that the government is making a Serb candidate list for the local elections on November 3, and not one centred on a particular political party," he told RTS on Tuesday. The rest of the employees in municipal administration will continue working there, he noted. "We are replacing people, but not the policy of preserving Kosovo," Vulin stated. These are important times, so no one has the right "to not be part of Serbia when it is fighting for its survival in Kosovo," said Vulin, who is also the head of the government office for Kosovo. A great majority of the heads of government companies and people in Kosovo are with their country, Serbia, and its government, he added. The Serbian government dissolved on Tuesday the municipal assemblies of Kosovska Mitrovica, Leposavic, Zvecan and Zubin Potok. The government appointed the heads and members of provisional bodies in these municipalities, the government office for media relations has stated.
