EULEX mission Saturday refuted allegations that EULEX Chief Xavier Bout de Marnhac’s mandate would end in October. In line with the normal EU procedure, de Marnhac's term in office began on October 15, 2010 and can be prolonged for another year, EULEX said in a release delivered to Tanjug. EULEX head not leaving, mission says Pristina-based Albanian language daily Koha Ditore wrote on Saturday that de Marnhac's mandate would end in October and would not be extended for another year, adding that he would be replaced by another official, also from France. Quoting its sources from the mission, Koha Ditore said that the recent events and insufficient engagement of the mission in Kosovo since the French general had been appointed its chief had all contributed to his not getting another year in that office. Up until now, all EULEX chiefs served in that position for two years, and their term has always been prolonged for the good results achieved, the daily said. The first mission chief, Yves de Kermabon, served for two years, but it will not be the same with General de Marnhac. He will leave the mission after only a year of work, Koha Ditore said. The mandate of EULEX, the biggest of EU international missions, expires in June 2012. The daily said it was almost completely certain that the EU member states would extend EULEX mandate until 2014.
