Muslim community denounces mufti

The seat of the Islamic Community in Sandzak stated today that Mufti Muamer Zukorlic "does not and cannot" represent the Islamic community and its worshipers. "The Islamic community and the Muslims of Serbia are represented by Reis-ul-Ulema Adem Zilkic, therefore, Zukorlic has no right to speak on behalf of the Muslims of Serbia, except for those gathered around his private community, which he has been increasingly abusing for commercial and political purposes," the statement said. Today's statement also said that Bosnikas, or Muslims, in Serbia's southwestern region of Sandzak, "are represented by the Bosniak National Council and political organization supported in elections". Zukorlic recently spoke on behalf of Bosniaks to reject the Serbian parliament declaration condemning the Srebrenica crime, describing the resolution as "inadequate, void of purpose, and demeaning".
