A spokesman for the Kosovo Albanian president says Boris Tadic, who is visiting the province, “broke an agreement not to make political statements”. Dzavit Beciri says this has “narrowed the possibilities for future visits to Kosovo” for the Serbian president. Pristina: Tadic “broke agreement” “He himself is to blame for narrowing the paths of cooperation and movement,” Beciri was quoted as saying by Beta news agency. He went on to add that the president and official Belgrade “are not giving up on their destructive approach to Kosovo”, and that the statement that “broke the agreement” referred to Tadic saying that Serbia will join the EU along with Kosovo as its part. “However much he tried to be restrained this time, he could not refrain from saying that Kosovo is allegedly a part of Serbia, although he knows it well himself that he was in another state yesterday, in the republic of Kosovo which is an independent and sovereign state,” said Beciri. The ethnic Albanian official also said that the “tendency of the people and institutions of Kosovo” was to join EU, NATO and other international organizations as soon as possible, “but not with Serbia, rather as an independent and sovereign state”. Tadic was in the Serb Orthodox monastery of Visoki Decani for Christmas celebrations on Wednesday and Thursday, where he said that he “does not wish to see only Serbia, meaning Kosovo as well, in the EU, but all the countries of the region integrate into the EU as soon as possible”.
