It will gather ministers and energy experts from 37 countries. Croatia's Prime Minister Ivo Sanader and the European Energy Commissioner Andris Piebalgs are expected to open the event.

Keynote speeches will be held by European Commission Deputy Director-General of Energy and Transport, Fabrizio Barbaso, and the Director-General in the EU External Relations Directorate, Eneko Landaburu.

About 400 participants, including managers of the world's leading energy companies and financial and scientific institutions, are expected to address energy security in Europe, energy projects in SEECP member states and possibilities for investments in the energy sector.

During the conference, Croatia, Italy, Romania, Slovenia and Serbia are to sign a memorandum of understanding concerning the PEOP project providing oil supplies for the European market from the Caspian region by a pipeline going from the Black Sea port of Constanta to the Trans Alpine Line near Trieste.
