Serbian Parliament Speaker and top SPS party official Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic says "the time is not right" to build a monument dedicated to Slobodan Milosevic. An initiative to build the monument was launched in the southern town of Prokuplje recently. "Time not right for Milosevic monument" Djukic-Dejanovic added that "history should appraise" the former Serbian and Yugoslav president - "and other personalities that marked the 1990s". She also asserted that she learned about the initiative through media reports, although it was launched by a local SPS councilor in Prokuplje. "We live in a country were everyone is free to start an initiative. However, we have not discussed it with the SPS, and we do not intend to, since this was not directed at us, but at the municipal assembly of Prokuplje," concluded Djukic-Dejanovic. The Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS) was founded and led until his death by Slobodan Milosevic.
