The Police Union of Serbia (PSS) reached an agreement with the Interior Ministry Monday to end their strike which began at 06:00 CET on Monday. PSS President Veljko Mijailovic and Serbian Interior Minister Ivica Dacic stated that conditions have been fulfilled for the termination of the strike when it came to the payment of outstanding per diem allowances and travel expenses, the ministry said. Police Union of Serbia decides to end strike Previously, Mijailovic said that the union, counting more than 13,000 members, was demanding from the ministry in charge to adopt a decision on the peaceful resolution of labor disputes, in order to equalize the position of employees of the Interior Ministry (MUP) with that of other civil servants. Mijailovic expressed the expectation that MUP would respond to the legal work stoppage by inviting the union representatives for discussions. Representatives of seven police trade unions, the PSS being the only representative one, reached an agreement with Interior Minister Ivica Dacic Thursday to cancel the strike that had been announced for Friday, June 10. The union's main requests were payment of funds to improve the financial status of police officers, the implementation of the Special Collective Agreement and the completion of the draft amendments to the Law on Police. Previously, Mijailović said that the union, counting more than 13,000 members, was demanding from the ministry in charge to adopt a decision on the peaceful resolution of labor disputes, in order to equalize the position of employees of the Interior Ministry (MUP) with that of other civil servants.

Mijailović expressed the expectation that MUP would respond to the legal work stoppage by inviting the union representatives for discussions.

Representatives of seven police trade unions, the PSS being the only representative one, reached an agreement with Interior Minister Ivica Dačić Thursday to cancel the strike that had been announced for Friday, June 10.

The union's main requests were payment of funds to improve the financial status of police officers, the implementation of the Special Collective Agreement and the completion of the draft amendments to the Law on Police.
