"SPO seeking Draskovic successor" There is already speculation within the party that SPO deputy leader and Diaspora Minister Srdjan Sreckovic is the number one contender to become the next SPO leader, the daily states. The SPO assembly is due to take place this spring, but, according to Novosti, the session of the party’s supreme council will most likely be postponed, both to prepare for the changes at the top and because of the economic crisis. The other option is to go ahead with the assembly, but to make it non-electoral, and wait until the next assembly to promote Draskovic’s successor. Draskovic would remain the party’s spiritual leader, so to speak, and could become honorary president. Commenting for the paper on this information, Sreckovic said "the SPO is in a process of modernization and organizational adaptation in keeping with the platform of the European Serbian right." "Our aim is to bring together individuals, institutions and organizations for whom Western civilization and the preservation of national identity are a national priority. We’ll adapt organizational changes in the party in line with this,“ said the deputy leader. Vuk Draskovic (FoNet, archive)
