Self-Determination protest ends peacefully

Self-Determination Movement activists reject Ahtisaari's plan because it provides for an open-ended period of European Union supervision once the UN leaves later this year, and does not specifically grant independence to Kosovo.

Demonstrators in downtown Priština today chanted "Self-Determination Now" and carried banners saying "Down with UNMIK".

They demanded the release from detention of their leader Albin Kurti, held since the fatal February 10 rally in which police opened fire with rubber bullets, killing two and injuring 80 people.

Over 200 reporters covered today's peaceful demostrations.
