Nelson Mandela’s great granddaughter has been killed in a car crash on the way back from a pre-World Cup concert in Johannesburg. Thirteen-year old Zenani Mandela was one of the former South African president’s nine great grandchildren. Nelson Mandela’s second wife, Winnie Madikizela-Mandela, was reportedly also in the car at the time. A police spokesman said the driver had been arrested and that police were investigating a case of culpable homicide, or causing death by negligence. The vehicle had been returning from the star-studded World Cup Kick-Off concert at Orlando Stadium in Johannesburg.

News of her death came from the Nelson Mandela Foundation, which added that there was just one car in the accident and that no-one else was injured.Nelson Mandela’s second wife, Winnie Madikizela-Mandela, was reportedly also in the car at the time.
