An expert committee of the Belgrade Communal Affairs Secretariat that is caring for Mila the dog has determined the criteria for her adoption. The one-year-old mixed breed was found with all four of her legs cut off in Belgrade in April. Conditions revealed for adoption of Mila Now authorities say the dog, which is recovering as in expected to soon be fitted with prosthetic limbs, will be given to a person who preferably has permanent residence in Belgrade, to facilitate the necessary monitoring of her health. The future owner will have to be able to care for the dog around the clock, given her disability, and must live in a house with a yard, or an apartment with access to a green space, the announcement specifies. Advantage will be given to those who do not already have more than one dog, and have stable financial income. The future owner will be able to adopt Mila only if they accept to have her examined by an expert team of the Belgrade Veterinary Institution once a month. The competent authorities will have the right to seize the dog if they determine that she is not receiving adequate treatment in her new home. Adoption applications can be sent to the Zoo-Hygiene Department of the Communal Affairs Secretariat, 35 Golsvortijeva St., Belgrade. The applications will be reviewed by the committee, which, among others, consists of film director Goran Paskaljevic, who represents an association for the protection of animals, Sandra Spoja, who found Mila, veterinarian Milos Randjelovic who treated the dog during the first several days, and Veran Matic, CEO and Editor in Chief of B92 which founded the Mila Fund, the announcement reads.
