Christianity's most important holiday, Easter, is celebrated today by Orthodox Serb Christians in the country and abroad. The Easter Holy Liturgy was celebrated in Belgrade's St. Sava temple, lead by Metropolitan Amfilohije. Orthodox Serbs celebrate Easter The Holy Liturgy was also served in all other SPC churches and temples in Serbia and around the world. On Holy Saturday, Serbian Orthodox Church (SPC) head His Holiness Patriarch Pavle sent his Easter message, read in Belgrade by Metropolitan Amfilohije. Easter is Christianity's core feast, celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ on the third day after he was crucified, and died on the cross in Jerusalem. For the Orthodox faithful, but also for other Christian denominations which celebrated a week earlier, the holiday symbolizes the victory of life and faith over death. On Easter Sunday, Serbs greet each other with the words "Christ is risen!", and, "He is risen indeed!" The Holy Liturgy was also served in all other SPC churches and temples in Serbia and around the world.
