Members of ethnic minorities in Vojvodina achieve more rights than those living elsewhere in Serbia, experts say. A conference dedicated to respecting ethnic minority rights in Serbia, which ended last night at the Vojvodina assembly in Novi Sad, concluded that many shortcomings still exist in the area, mostly due to a lack of appropriate legislature regulating appointment and jurisdiction of ethnic minority councils. While in theory the same laws apply to all, in practice, minorities living in Vojvodina are better off protecting and exercising their rights, the conference, attended by the government, parliament, and OSCE representatives, concluded.
