Serbian arms mogul indicted
Dragić is reportedly charged with bribery, illegal weapons possession and accused of increasing prices for products in the contract issued by his company and attempting to sell equipment to the then Yugoslav Army at higher prices.Finance Minister Mlađan Dinkić opened the so-called flak vest scandal in August 2005 and accused Dragić and then Defense Minister Prvoslav Davinić of signing a contract which damaged the state finances for roughly EUR 300mn.
Davinić was at the time a member of Dinkić’s G17 Plus party.
B92 has learned that Davinić, along with Kokunović, Vučković and Mihajlović also face charges of abuse of office.
The indictments came after almost two years of investigation led by a judge who handed the case over to the district prosecution in May.
Belgrade District Court spokeswoman Ivana Ramić told B92 that the investigation was extended to Davinić and Dragić in 2006.
“I cannot say at this moment when the proceedings might begin. The indictment does not yet contain a motion for placing the indictees in custody,” Ramić explained.
