Controversial singer, fans mark Storm anniversary

Croatia's media are reporting that some 70,000 people attended a concert given by Marko Perković aka Thompson, to celebrate Operation Storm.

ZAGREB Croatia's media are reporting that some 70,000 people attended a concert given by Marko Perkovic aka Thompson, to celebrate Operation Storm. The singer is known for controversies related to the Ustasha ideology. Now Zagreb-based website Index.hr is reporting that of the 70,000 present at the concert, "only five were detained for wearing the Ustasha insignia". The Croatian police in the coastal Sibenik-Knin Directorate said that the five were brought in "for wearing insignia or other markings that call for ethnic, racial or religious hatred, or any form of intolerance". During the concert, Perkovic greeted the crowd in Cavoglava with the words "Za dom - spremni". The salute, that translates to "For home - ready", was used by the Nazi-allied WW2 Independent State of Croatia (NDH) Ustasha regime, that was responsible for running death camps such as Jasenovac, where mass murder of Serbs, Jews and Roma took place.
